The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) is the process that initiates adults into the Catholic Church through various phases leading to reception of the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and First Eucharist (Holy Communion). In this process, the parish community serves as both companions on the journey and as examples of faith.
Conversion is at the heart of OCIA and of the Christian life itself. The OCIA process facilitates and supports the conversion experience and creates a "space"
for adults to explore Catholic beliefs, have questions answered, and share their journey.
At Saint William, our OCIA process starts with informal weekly meetings, followed by formal sessions.
