On New Year’s Day, I visited the Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle in San Juan, Texas praying for you and our parish. There is one particular intention I have been reflecting on for a little over two years: the Lord placed on my heart the possibility of having a Catholic Classical Academy school at Saint William. This possibility has been affirmed by Bishop Joe Vásquez and now we would like to hear from the parishioners of St. William by inviting you to complete a school interest survey.
The school would be Catholic and Classical, which means that our curriculum of math, science, literature, and history would be taught through the lens of our faith. The approach would be one that 1) instills moral virtue, decorum, respect, and discipline for both teachers and students and 2) is in line with our mission here at Saint William, one of Encounter with Jesus Christ.
Now, let me state clearly that a school at Saint William has not been approved. The school interest survey is the first of several important steps both the Diocese of Austin and I need answered to better understand the needs of our community. This is why your participation is so important. Please keep in mind this survey is anonymous and there is no right or wrong answer—your honest opinion as to whether your household supports a school or not is key to ensuring an accurate response from our community.
You will be invited to participate in the survey during Mass on the weekend of January 28, 2024. In the meantime, I invite you to visit the survey webpage for answers to frequently asked questions along with the latest updates.
Please pray as you discern this significant endeavor for our parish. May God bless you.
