Why do we register in a Parish?
From time to time, I am asked, “Is it okay to be registered at two parishes?” My answer is simple: no. We are called to commit ourselves fully and completely to one parish—the one we call home. This is not about competition between parishes, but about belonging. A parish flourishes when its people are fully invested in its life and mission. Each of us has been given unique gifts, and those gifts are needed in our parish. When we make a wholehearted commitment, we proclaim through our actions: “You can count on me!”
Parish registration is one of the most practical and meaningful ways we live out that commitment. It allows the parish to better care for our community—helping us plan for Mass attendance, prepare for the Sacraments, support our ministries, organize Faith Formation programs, allocate staff, and manage our space and parking. Simply put, it helps us serve you better.
Unfortunately, many people never formally register—or forget to update their information when they move. Yet every week, I have the joy of meeting new faces at St. William. Some are visiting, others are new to the area, but all are a blessing. They quickly become part of our parish family. I am deeply grateful to you, the parishioners of St. William, for the warmth and hospitality you show. I consistently hear how welcoming our community is, and that is a beautiful witness to our faith.
Our parish is always growing and changing. Registration is a simple but powerful way to say, “I am here. You can count on me.” It allows us to better connect your family to the many ministries and opportunities within our parish. It ensures we can reach you in times of emergency or share important parish communications. Registered parishioners also receive diocesan communications, such as The Catholic Spirit, and may request parish offertory envelopes if desired.
For all of these reasons, I encourage you to register with the parish office or your online account if you have not already done so—or to update your information if anything has changed, including your address, phone number, or email.
I, too, am a registered parishioner of St. William. It is my great joy to be among you as your pastor. You can count on me to remain faithful to the mission entrusted to me.
Will you stand with me and say, “You can count on me”!
God bless you.
