Living Faith

Jenn a parishoner at St. William converted Catholicism from atheism Easter 2007. After having her first child, she decided to make sure that atheism was what she wanted to pass on. Through much soul-searching and blogging, she realized that she couldn’t deny God.

Listen to Jenn's story on American Catholic Radio. Her interview begins about 5 minutes 30 seconds into the show.

giving thanks

We received Fr Joel's official tax receipt for 2007. It's President's day today. Tonight is St Williams' parish mission night also. It may be a good time to pause and reflect and give thanks to God for all God's blessings. St Williams' capital campaign exceeded expectations. It's a good time to give thanks. We give thanks to God because God answered our prayers as a community, as a family, as a disciple. It's a good time to renew our efforts to be humble and to acknowledge our dependence on the Vine.

The day lilies started flowering in our backyard. Spring is almost here.

Jubilee Year Dedicated to St. Paul

Today I would like to have you think about St. Paul. Why?

Because that is what Pope Benedict is asking the entire church to do this year. Let me quote a news story:

The Twelve Days of Christmas Explained

We are familiar with the traditional Christmas Carol “The Twelve Days of Christmas”. One way to look at it is a brief catechism of Christianity. Next time you sing this song, consider this symbolism:

Father Joel's Christmas Message

Christmas remains a season of wonder and compassion.  Even now, it’s a season of extraordinary kindness and graciousness….of miracles.   It’s a season where we tell stories of reindeer who fly and snowmen that can dance.  We tell stories of Scrooges and Grinches that get brand new hearts due to the spirit and wonder of the season.

The season is this way all because 2000 yrs ago the greatest miracle of all took place in Bethlehem:    God became man and dwelt among us.

Father Joel's Blog

With the first week of Advent, we now begin a new liturgical year and a wonderful opportunity to grow in understanding and maturity as disciples!  In our scripture readings we ponder the Past …to be attentive to the Present… to be prepared for the Future.

The word Advent comes from the two Latin words, “ad” + “venire”, meaning “something or someone is coming….”

In this season we ponder threefold advent of our Lord: Past, Present, & Future.
